Come learn about the fascinating artist Gustav Klimt on the 100th anniversary year of his death, and make your own painting inspired by his work. Art teacher Christine Thornton will teach you how to use metallic paint and colored pencils on black paper for this fun, easy process. Beginners welcome! This program is limited to 30 participants and open to St. Charles Library cardholders through August 30. If space is still available, it will then open to non-cardholders. REGISTER

Like other countries, Ukrainian cuisine combines great amount of various regional customs. Polish, Hungarian, Germanic, Turkish, Tatar and Russian culinary traditions had a notable influence on the uniqueness of its recipes. During its existence, Ukrainian cuisine has come long and interesting path from simple to complex dishes, which have very interesting ways of cooking. Chef Susan Maddox will prepare some delicious treats exploring the Ukrainians own unique set of products and methods of preparation.

Celebrate Illinois Bicentennial with a 90-minute multi-media presentation about Illinois' 10 defining moments. Professor Gary Midkiff will cover events from all corners of the state and connect many of those events to national history. Topics include: the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the 1917 race riots of East St. Louis, and the 1858 Lincoln/Douglas debates.
