Make a difference in your community and volunteer at the St. Charles Public Library. Volunteers from all ages, backgrounds, and skill sets support, supplement, and enrich the Library’s effort to serve our St. Charles community.
Volunteer Opportunities

Adult Volunteers
Our Adult Volunteer Program is open to persons 18 years of age or older. Volunteers work in a variety of departments assisting Library staff and enhancing library services. Volunteer must complete an application, with references and give written consent for the Library to conduct a criminal background check. Questions? Teen Volunteers
If you attend high school or the homeschool equivalent of grades 9-12, apply to be high school volunteer! Volunteers help with shelving and pulling materials, using the Library catalog, working from reports, and more. You’ll earn service hours, gain experience for your first job or add to your college application!

Junior Friends Volunteers
Junior Friends are middle school students who want to help others in their community! Volunteers help in Youth Services with a variety of tasks such as pulling books, refilling supplies, preparing for programs and sharing ideas, with opportunities to assist with special events. The Junior Friends meet on the first Thursday of every month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Additional hours can be scheduled with the Middle School Librarian.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley
- Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley: Volunteer tutors are paired with adults who want to read, write and understand English better. Tutor training workshops are help at the Library throughout the year. To find out how you can volunteer or how you can get help, call 630-584-2811 or visit lvfv.org.
